Turn lightning data
into a documented risk assessment.

Documented expert analysis of GLD360+ lightning data. Reports prepared in compliance with IEC 62858 and IEC 62305-2.

The platform

What is Strike Radar?

A documented expert analysis platform for lightning strikes

Strike Radar leverages data from the global GLD360+ (Global Lightning Dataset) network, a lightning location system (LLS) covered by IEC 62858, the standard defining lightning density based on such systems. This data is used to produce documented analyses for risk assessment under IEC 62305-2.

Who uses it:

  • Lightning protection engineering offices (Risk Assessment, ADF, ATF)
  • Experts and insurers (assessment of lightning-strike likelihood during claims)
  • Industrial operators and managers of sensitive sites
  • Lightning prevention and protection professionals
  • Fleet and site managers (telecom towers, wind farms, photovoltaic plants)

The probe

What is a probe?

A 100 km radius monitoring zone

A probe is 100% virtual, defined by a GPS position and a 100 km radius, with no sensor or equipment to install. It's a geographical point you place yourself on the map, wherever you choose: Strike Radar then monitors the surrounding disc using the global GLD360+ network.

  • Nothing to install on-site
  • All lightning strikes in the area are detected
  • Strikes are archived from the moment the probe is set up, with no retroactive data: place it as early as possible
  • All projects declared in LPS Manager are monitored

Question 1

What documents can I get?

Three documented deliverables for risk assessment, prepared in compliance with IEC 62858 · IEC 62305-2 · NF C 17-102 · NFPA 780.

Nsg Certificate

Ground flash density — average lightning strikes per km²/year over 10 years, input determined in compliance with IEC 62858, mandatory for any IEC 62305-2 study.

Lightning Strike Certificate

Provides a percentage-based assessment of the likelihood that a lightning strike affected a specific site on a given date, using the GPS coordinates, intensity (kA) and polarity of recorded events.

For Insurance claims, legal expertise, post-event audit
Period From probe setup onwards, no earlier history
⚠ 100 km probe required

Keraunic Report

Comprehensive study of lightning activity in a given area and period: monthly and hourly charts, impact mapping, intensity statistics.

For Annual audit, preliminary audit, site study, reporting

Question 3

Can I get information for my site?

It depends on your site's coverage and the available data history. Here's how it works:

If a probe covers your site — you see since when data is recorded and can access all deliverables (Nsg, Lightning Strike Certificate, keraunic report).
If no probe covers your site — the Nsg Certificate remains available (worldwide) and you can create a probe (Light or Pro) to start archiving. Strikes prior to its setup will not be available: create it as early as possible.
LPS Manager

From lightning data to installation follow-up

Strike Radar and LPS Manager

LPS Manager is the app that brings all of lightning protection together: installation record, study and protection level, choice of air terminals and surge protective devices, inspections, reports and long-term follow-up. It is designed for every stakeholder: site managers, design offices, installers, inspectors, manufacturers and institutions.

  • Strike Radar analyses (Nsg density, lightning strike assessments, keraunic reports) complement the installation's lightning protection record
  • Monitoring strikes around a site helps decide on a preventive inspection after a storm
  • One approach: assess lightning risk, document, inspect, follow up
  • Smartphone app for iOS and Android, with a free plan

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Why is the Nsg Certificate available everywhere but not the others?
The Nsg is a statistical value computed from 10 years of GLD360+ measurements available worldwide. The Lightning Strike Certificate and Keraunic Report require continuous, localized archiving that only begins when a probe is set up. Strikes that occurred before that date cannot be recovered: the earlier the probe is placed, the longer the available history.
What happens if no probe covers my site?
The Nsg Certificate remains available (everywhere). For the other deliverables, you can subscribe to Light (1 project, €118.80 incl. VAT/year i.e. €9.90/month, or €29.90/month with no commitment) or Pro (multi-site, from €65.00/month). Once subscribed, archiving begins within the 100 km radius around your point. It does not cover earlier strikes: don't wait to place your probe.
How do packs work?
A pack groups several documents of the same type at a reduced price, usable across all your covered sites (or anywhere for Nsg).
What is the value of the documents?
Documents are prepared in compliance with IEC 62858 and IEC 62305-2, and are based on GLD360+ network data. They are used by engineering offices, experts and insurers for risk assessments, audits and claim files.
Which devices does Strike Radar run on?
Strike Radar is multiplatform: Web, Android, iOS and Desktop. Your data and subscriptions sync across all your devices.
How do Strike Radar and LPS Manager relate?
Strike Radar and LPS Manager are complementary: Strike Radar assesses a site's lightning risk (Nsg density, lightning strike assessments, keraunic reports), while LPS Manager, the iOS and Android smartphone app, is used to describe, inspect and follow up lightning protection installations. Strike Radar documents thus complement the installation record.
